Help with Folio

Support

Folio brings courses, assignments, and study materials together on a computer and works with Folio for iPad.

Installing Folio

Folio for Mac needs an Apple chip, M1 or later; Macs with an Intel processor are not supported. Folio for Windows needs Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The installer is signed by David Haruni and checked by Apple (notarized). On a Mac, the first time Folio opens, macOS asks whether to open an app downloaded from the internet: choose Open. On Windows, if a SmartScreen message says Windows protected the computer, choose More info, check that the publisher is David Haruni, then choose Run anyway. If the installation still does not work, write to support:

Try these first

  • Connecting Moodle

On the Moodle sign-in card, complete sign-in on the institution page and return to Folio. If Moodle returns to the sign-in page repeatedly or does not finish, confirm it is the institution’s Moodle address, close an older sign-in window, and start again from the card. Never send a password or sign-in code to support.

Folio for iPad, in the pilot

  • Pairing a computer and iPad

On the computer, open the iPad page and show the pairing QR code. On iPad, open the computer connection screen and scan it. If the screen shows “iPad not connected yet” or “iPad connected · nothing sent yet”: keep Folio open on the computer, check both devices are online, and scan a new code if pairing was lost.

  • Notebook on iPad

If a new note does not appear, allow automatic saving to finish and check that the iPad is still paired. If pairing was lost, scan a new QR code from the computer. Apple Pencil is for writing and drawing; a finger scrolls and moves the page.

Report a problem

Email support:

Include the device type, the time the problem happened, and the version: on desktop, open Settings and find “Folio updates” and the line “Currently installed: Folio …”; on iPad, open Account, then “Details for help and support,” and read “Folio version on your computer.” When visible, include the “Install ID” from “Account & cohort” too. Your report contains the text you write, the installation ID if shown, the submission time, and the diagnostic details shown before sending. An attached diagnostic file contains the version, operating system, sync status, and error log, with no personal information, grades, or course content. Do not send a password or sign-in code.
